A Peak Behind The Ropes
As a Malaysian Indian woman, proud in her heritage, yet somewhat disconnected growing up as a third culture kid, I’ve always been curious to explore human behaviour. How people think, why they act the way they do, and how I can better understand humanity are all questions that led me down this rope-filled road.
Ropes opened portals of raw vulnerable emotions, and I met them with curiosity and wonder. No masks can stay on when the ropes meet your body and to be the holder of that humbles me and I am deeply honored by anyone that allows themselves to be in my ropes.
My approach to shibari is a sum of my journey of self-discovery. How I met myself in darkness and journeyed through discovering what brings me light. Everything I share and offer to you is a part of me, and my journey of alchemizing this extraordinary human experience.
My Intention
is clear. There are 3 important things that I believe that ropes offer as action towards my intention.
I believe there are three important things in this human life.
The first is connection - both to ourselves and others. One of the most profoundly important things to feeling human is our connection to others. Rope offers this in a practical and technical way.
Next is being connected to our physical body. This is where sensuality comes in. Sensuality in the sense of our sense perception, the very awareness that grounds us in this reality and this body. Rope offers this again.
Lastly, I believe expression of creativity is more important than we think it is. Our minds need creative exercises to feel alive, open and fully engaged. Again, ropes offer this to us.
So, with a humble set of ropes made from fibers harvested in nature, it allows us to connect so deeply to what matters.
It allows me to put my intention into action.
